Job Description We currently have an exciting opportunity for a CFD Engineer to join the Innovation team reporting to the Senior Staff Engineer. This position in John Crane Core Technology and Simulation, a group focusing on the development of technologies and concepts, simulation, and core technology understanding to support the product portfolio of mechanical seals (Turbo Gas and Pump/ Agitator) and Filtration for the next generation of John Crane Products, is part of our strategy to strengthen John Crane’s simulation capability and anchor simulation as a fundamental pillar in New Product Development (NPD), Core Technology as well as an essential tool for engineering solutions. In this role, the CFD Specialist will be responsible for performing advanced computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations focused on new product development (NPD) and technology projects for John Crane’s Filtration and Turbo Gas Seal divisions. The CFD simulations are focused on both gas as (Newtonian) liquids applications. Working closely with the engineering and NPD teams, the specialist will not only perform high-level CFD simulations, but will also participate in cross-functional initiatives to improve and expand our CFD simulation capabilities. This position requires a thorough understanding of fluid dynamics as well as the ability to innovate and improve simulation methodologies to ensure the optimal integration of new technologies and enhancements into our product development processes. Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to) Provide comprehensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for both single-phase and multiphase flows in support of John Crane’s New Products and Technology Development for Gas Compression Projects and Filtration. Develop and implement advanced multiphase flow models for John Crane’s Innovation group, focusing on interfacial dynamics, phase interactions, and transport phenomena. Contribute to the validation of models by conducting comparisons with field measurements and experimental data. Explore best practices (multiphase studies, turbulence investigations, etc.). Communicate complex technical concepts and simulation results to technical and non-technical staff effectively. Generate detailed documentation of simulation results for internal and external stakeholders. Promoting John Crane technology excellence through publications at key industry conferences. Actively seek and provide constructive feedback within the team to enhance simulation methodologies and overall product quality.
