Autism Support Worker
Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs? Are you keen to make a difference to a child's primary education experience? Protocol Education are currently recruiting for an Autism Support Worker to work full time at a school in BS32. The role will primarily be supporting a child on a 1:1 basis meaning that an ability to build trust and create positive working relationships with children is essential in the successful candidate. The child will have an Education Health Care Plan and either professional or personal experience with children or adults with additional needs is strongly desirable but not essential.
The role will be 5 days a week however, due to high demand, we do ave part time and more flexible options available in other areas. Working hours are 8:30 - 3:30 Monday to Friday and the majority of your time will be spent supporting one child with their learning across the curriculum as well as helping to support their emotional and mental well-being. This includes providing intervention to help the child develop social skills, build confidence and resilience and regulate their own emotions and corresponding behaviour independently. Elements of the role will also include supporting the teacher with whole class learning and behaviour management as well as running interventions on a small group basis where necessary. All intervention work will be provided, if not guided by the class teacher.
