Join us as a Child and Adolescent Cognitive Behaviour Therapist Trainee in Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust in January 2025. You will gain high quality training & work in a service delivering evidence-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for children and adolescents with long term health conditions such as diabetes and sickle cell and common mental health problems. We are looking for enthusiastic trainees who have a commitment to our local communities. Our teams cover the city of Bradford and you will be based at St Luke's Hospital, just 15 minutes walk from Bradford city centre.
We are especially keen to recruit trainees from the region who are from backgrounds which are currently underrepresented in psychological training and will offer all trainees an excellent package of induction and support throughout the year to ensure that training is a positive and rewarding experience. As a member of our team, you will be able to attend our team wellbeing and CPD sessions and be a valued member of the service.
Main duties of the job
This is a training role within the NHS. You will work within the service providing CBT whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role.
The training post will equip you to assess patients & provide CBT to clients with mild to moderate anxiety & depression and co-morbid physical health problems.
Structure: These are full-time clinical training posts, Monday-Friday 9-5.
2x days per week attending supervision and lectures through the training provider, much of which will be online but some of which will be in person.
3x days per week is dedicated to clinic work where you will be actively in the hospital, shadowing colleagues, learning how our professional NHS service operates & beginning to pick up your own clinical caseload using your newly developed skills.

Qualifications
Essential
* Qualifications that demonstrate a capacity to complete academic work at postgraduate diploma level
* A registerable professional qualification (e.g. clinical or educational psychology, social work, counselling, mental health nursing, occupational therapy etc) Applications MAY be considered from those who do not have a registerable professional training if they have at least 3 years' experience in a CAMHS or equivalent setting and can demonstrate equivalence through the RPL (recognition of prior learning) process
* Minimum second-class Bachelor's Degree from a UK University or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology, social work etc)
Experience
Essential
* 2 or more years of experience working within children and young people in a mental health setting
* Experience of multi-agency and/or multi-disciplinary working and liaising across internal and external agencies
* Experience of assessing and managing risk and safeguarding issues
Desirable
* Previous experience of working within a CBT framework and/or using CBT informed interventions
* 1 year or more experience working within a psychological framework and/or using psychological therapy informed interventions (e.g. PWP, CWP, EMHP and Parent Trainer)
