Cheshire West and Chester's Special Educational Needs and Disability Information, Advice and Support Service provide free confidential and impartial information, advice and support about special educational needs & disabilities (SEND) for parents/carers and young people.
We are seeking to recruit an Information, Advice & Support Service Officer, on a temporary fixed term contract for two years.
You will be part of a busy, dynamic team, contributing to the delivery of an innovative service. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to develop positive working relationships and be able to deal with varied situations in a supportive manner. You will have a caring and empathetic nature, you will need to work with the upmost integrity and be assertive enough to have difficult conversations while remaining calm and measured, and you will have the energy and enthusiasm to contribute to the smooth running of the service.
Responsibilities include informing and advising parents of children and young people and young people directly who have Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities and enable them to take a full part in the identification and review of their own/child’s special education needs and the provision offered. You will help empower Parents/Carers to be able to self-advocate and have their voices and wishes heard. Presentation Skills are essential as you will be required to present workshops and training sessions to Parent/Carer’s. Excellent ICT Skills are required as you will be expected to input to and update service and customer/case management data bases ensuring that the accuracy and integrity of the information is maintained.
This role is designated as:
Fully Agile: Workers work from a home base with occasional visits to a Council office. In practice, work may be carried out from almost anywhere. Many services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.
