APPROXIMATE ANNUAL SALARY: $59,257.44 to $87,570.72
PAY GRADE: 33
The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Highway Maintenance Supervisors supervise skilled and semi-skilled personnel engaged in restoring roadway surfaces and restoring or constructing slopes, shoulders, culverts, structures, fixtures, and landscaping.
Incumbents function as first-line supervisors who train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff; assign and review work; and initiate disciplinary action.
This position is located in Austin, NV. Supervises a crew that performs routine maintenance including snow/ice removal, appurtenance repair & maintenance, emergency response for accidents, floods, and hazards to provide traffic control and maximize safety. This crew maintains over 250 lane miles, including US 50, SR 305, and SR 722. The Summits include 7195' & 7484' in elevation, requiring regular attention to remove or mitigate snow and ice.

Minimum Qualifications
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent education and one year of experience as leadworker of a highway maintenance crew which included assigning and overseeing the work of lower-level personnel, providing input on performance evaluations, and assisting the supervisor in laying out a variety of roadway or specialty maintenance work; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and two years of experience as a Highway Maintenance Worker III in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
Special Requirements
A valid class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for continued employment. Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, all positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. In addition, federal law requires random testing for controlled substances during employment.
Additional Position Criteria: A valid Class A or B commercial driver's license is required within six months of employment.
