About the role:
We have an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Technician to join our Maintenance team at our Rye Meads Sewage Works. As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our waste treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference to Thames Water's environmental impact, and you will be actively helping to reduce pollution from our sites.
What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical Technician:
* Investigate plant failures and perform repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
* Provide technical advice, refer to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
* Work on equipment including motors, gearboxes, screw/chain conveyors, centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear.
* Complete statutory checks as required.
* Always work safely and comply with all Health and Safety guidance and procedures.
What you should bring to the role:
* NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical engineering qualification.
* A valid driving license is essential.
* Be a time-served apprentice with considerable experience in Mechanical systems.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety procedures are essential.

* Take ownership of responding quickly to faults and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
* Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.

* Be proactive in making recommendations and improvements around the site.
* Be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
