The salary for this role is £40,609 (inclusive of a Market Premium Payment (MPP)). Job Description This role is based at the following site: Culham, Oxfordshire. This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions. As Plasma Exhaust Physicist, you will play a pivotal role in performing experimental data analysis, including supporting modelling, to understand plasma exhaust detachment and the resulting divertor power loads. This will include the analysis of MAST-U divertor spectroscopy and imaging systems, both for your own research and in support of the wider programme. You will also be encouraged to propose and lead research on MAST-U and other international devices. Additional Responsibilities: - Report results at science and other regular progress meetings. - Disseminate results through conference and peer reviewed journal papers. Qualifications Essential Requirements: - PhD level of knowledge of experimental physics or equivalent experience. - Proven ability to carry out detailed analysis of experimental data, use of suitable tools, error analysis, etc. - Proficiency with programming languages, e.g. C, FORTRAN, IDL, Python. - Proven ability to conduct independent research.
