Job overview
Due to retirement and expanding focus on Community Frailty work, Spring Terrace Health Centre are looking for a Salaried GP for up to 8 Sessions per week to join our well-established practice within Northumbria Primary Care.
As a teaching practice, Spring Terrace Health Centre takes great pride in developing our future work force in primary care. This includes GP registrars, medical students, nursing students and the continued development of all staff. We are keen to hear from candidates who have an interest in teaching and actively encourage candidates who would like to explore any special interests.
As a practice Spring Terrace has been on a journey of quality improvement over recent years and is subsequently growing its patient list, clinical space and workforce. We would like to recruit a GP who is keen to continue this journey with us.
We are a friendly small practice who have regular team meetings and catch-up time (in and outside work) to promote an inclusive atmosphere and work closely to foster an open, transparent & positive work culture. North Shields is a coastal town on the North bank of the River Tyne, 8 miles north-east of Newcastle Upon Tyne with good transport links and access to coastal and a short drive to the countryside in Northumberland.
Main duties of the job
As a GP Practice which is part of Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC), we work with flexibility and independence to run the surgery based on what is best for our patients and staff, and additionally we have the regular and consistent support of the management team to help us to focus on what is clinically important.
As a Salaried GP the post holder will be a key clinician within the team. A job plan will be agreed with you to provide general medical services and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
This 8 session post would be ideal for a GP with an interest in Community Frailty as one session a week will be supporting our care home patients at Princes Court, one session per week providing GP clinical support to the North Tyneside Intermediate Care Unit (rehab unit) as well as work the Community Frailty ITP registrar focussing on delivering the best care for our elderly housebound population. A GP trainer is ideal but not necessary as long as you have a desire to be involved in education.
Routine surgery sessions are limited to 13 contacts per surgery, including mixture of telephone, f2f and continuity slots for individual clinicians to use. Any Duty work is between 8.30am and 5pm, late duties (until 6pm) are shared with our sister site Nelson Medical Group and only tend to cover a 6pm finish once per fortnight on average, less as the team expands. Our f2f appointments are 15 minutes as standard and any registrar supervision has protected slot time.
The post holder will work as a member of the multidisciplinary Practice team to provide general medical services for the needs of the practice population and to help ensure the Practice provides the highest standards of care for all registered and temporary patients.
The post holder will manage a busy caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting.
The post holder is expected to contribute to the operational and strategic management of the practices within Northumbria Primary care and there are opportunities for personal and professional development across a wide range of areas within primary and secondary care.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent (JCPTGP/nMRCGP)
* Membership of a recognized defence union (MPS/MDU)
* Currently on a performers list and never been removed from a performers list for a detrimental reason
* DRCOG
* DFFP/FFFP
* DCH
Experience
* Clinical training and experience as a General Practitioner
* Evidence of recent self-directed learning or development
