We are currently seeking an Design Manager to work for a main Civil Contractor who works across the UK specializing a variety of civil engineering sectors with a primary focus of civil water treatment works.
Role will be based in the Midlands Region with the candidate expected to travel intermittently to various project sites within the UK when required.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Provide advice and guidance on the “buildability” of the design proposals to the design and construction teams on all packages
•Liaise with all statutory bodies/authorities as required – such as town planning, building control and services e.g. gas and water
•Lead the development and management of the design deliverables programme
•Ensure there is a clear schedule of design deliverables
•Lead gate reviews activities to ensure that they are timely and appropriate sign off is achieved at each project gate
•Lead the co-ordination and production of design data, reports and documentation essential to the project and contractual requirements and report progress against the design deliverables programme
•Ensure that learning and best practice is captured from the bid/project with the aim of sharing it across the business stream and the CSUK business.
•Proactively contribute to the Risk and Value Management process
About The Candidate
Essential:
Extensive experience of multi-disciplinary design management, in a design-build environment.
Degree in an engineering-related discipline.
Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline.
APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.
Must be delivery-driven with the ability to set targets and manage and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver to time, cost and quality objectives.
Working knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.
Extensive experience in large-scale project delivery.
Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
Good general knowledge of all aspects of water treatment e.g., related process, civil and MEICA engineering aspects.
Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently, and convincingly.
Desirable
Working towards or have obtain APM Project Management Qualification.
Experience of working for a global organisation.
Experience of working with remote/dispersed teams.
Experience in the Water/Wastewater Treatment Industry.
Ability to embrace collaborative and innovative working.
Knowledge of BIM procedures and techniques
