Procurement is a small busy team providing a support service to Directorates and Departments across the Trust. We manage national contracts and tender for contracts over £50,000 in value, as well as providing advice on procurement matters as required. The Apprentice role will contribute to the smooth running of the Procurement team by providing procurement support within the team and to stakeholders.\n\nThe Procurement Apprentice role will provide training in a variety of procurement tasks. This apprenticeship is a great opportunity to learn, train and experience work in a professional environment where we take pride in providing a good service to colleagues across the Trust.\n\nThe Apprentice will also study for a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ in Procurement at SCQF Level 6) with JBM. \n The Apprentice will take direction from the Head of Procurement (or other delegated team member as appropriate to the task), working alongside other staff. The Apprentice will have regular guidance and review from JBM, who are working on the Trustâs behalf as our training provider. The employment is for a fixed period of 12 months, subject to continued progression on the course and acceptable performance.\n\nDuties will include:\n\nâ¢\tAnalysis of supplier spend data to help to identify savings opportunities and supporting the supplier rationalisation programme.\n\nâ¢\tSourcing and evaluating suppliers in terms of environmental and financial sustainability.\n\nâ¢\tSupporting the development of initiatives to reduce the Trustâs Scope 3 carbon emissions and improve ESG performance. \n\nâ¢\tUse of Public Contracts Scotland to support tendering work including managing supplier Q&A, opening and downloading tenders.\n\nâ¢\tSupporting procurement activity tracking (workplan, savings sheet, contract register etc). \n\nâ¢\tHelping to embed contract and supplier management for key spend areas, including attending contract management meetings as required. \n\nâ¢\tSupporting the development and implementation of stakeholder management across the Trust to ensure that Procurement meets the needs of stakeholders, captures a wider range of spend and develops the skills of staff responsible for devolved procurement.\n\nâ¢\tManaging the purchase to pay process for key spend areas including obtaining quotes, raising purchase orders, expediting, receipting orders and working with Finance to resolve any invoice queries.\n\nâ¢\tProviding cover for the Procurement Administrator including onboarding new suppliers and monitoring the Amazon business account. \n\nâ¢\tAny other relevant duties appropriate to the role. \n\nTo provide a consistently high standard of customer care at all times:\n\nâ¢\tAssisting colleagues with queries in an efficient and friendly manner and passing enquiries on to other team members where appropriate.\nâ¢\tWorking in harmony with other departments (such as Finance) to provide an efficient service for the Trust.\nâ¢\tAdhering to Trust procedures at all times.\n\nHealth and Safety \n\nâ¢\tWork within the Trustâs Health and Safety policy and procedures. \n Essential:\nâ¢\tNo experience necessary but a positive attitude, flexibility and willingness to learn is important.\nâ¢\tGood IT skills user with experience of Word, Excel and Outlook, and confident about learning other IT software packages.\nâ¢\tGood communication skills (written and verbal)\nâ¢\tGood interpersonal skills with the ability to interact confidently with a wide range of colleagues and suppliers staff.\nâ¢\tMethodical approach with an eye for detail and accuracy. \nâ¢\tTeam player \n \n\nDesirable:\nâ¢\tNat 5 English and Maths\n\nThe Key Responsibilities, Scope of Job, and Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience & Knowledge reflect the requirements of the job at the time of issue.
