Process Team Lead
Our client, a leading supplier of oil and gas, and renewable energy equipment and solutions, is currently seeking a Process Team Lead to join their well-established team, based in the Norwich office.
This is a 5 – 6 month contract role, working 5 days per week Monday – Friday. A minimum of 3 days per week will be office based (in either the Norwich or Great Yarmouth Office) and the remaining 2 days performed remotely.
Essential Skills, Qualifications & Experience:
1. BEng/MEng in Chemical Engineering
2. 10+ years of O&G industry experience
3. Experience with topside piping systems in the offshore environment, both green & brownfield.
4. Full working knowledge of applicable and related design codes and standards.
5. Experience with survey requirements and Process related equipment.
6. Preparation of project delivery documents including philosophies, reports, calculations, and drawings.
7. Experience with preparation and presentation of design packs for third party review and appraisal.
8. Proven project management experience in a design team.
9. Liaison and interfacing with other project related Disciplines and Client Personnel.
10. Piping & Instrumentation Diagram drafting.
11. Proficient user of HYSYS steady state software.
12. High level of design and analytical skill combined with desire to research, test and challenge. Software: AutoCAD/ Solidworks / simulation Mathcad/Ansys
13. Interpretation of design criteria and outline planning of initial concepts and be able to formulate discipline scopes and identify opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
1. Successful delivery of project related discipline for design and engineering, for Platforms & Structures business unit, in a cost and time efficient manner.
2. Project discipline deliverables delivered on time and to agreed budget.
3. Liaise with project managers to ensure that all Platforms & Structures projects are adequately supported and resourced.
4. Ensure discipline team is effectively managed with necessary controls in place to maximise productivity and minimise errors.
5. Drive Increase in efficiencies, competence, and experience of discipline team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage proactively with Project Managers to deliver engineering support and ensure projects are adequately managed and supported.
2. Ensure that appointed Lead Engineers proactively engage with Project Managers.
3. Manage & provide updates on design project progress.
4. Chair/participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, etc.
5. Act as Design Authority for discipline area.
6. Ensure that all design engineering tasks are undertaken in accordance with procedures and in line with ISO 9001/14001 guidelines/requirements.
7. Improve quality of design output including but not limited to, drawings, calculations, analysis, documents, emails, etc. Taking a lead to implement, support grow data management and data twin systems, within the discipline stream.
8. Ensure the discipline design team are working to the same goals as their colleagues (project and organisational goals).
9. Preparation, review and approval of technical documents, technical reports, calculations, CTR’s, quotations, tenders, etc.
10. Develop and validate a suite of in-house standard calculations, drawings and documentation to aid project delivery and quality.
11. Lead and motivate the engineers in your team in support of business unit project delivery.
12. Ensure that the design aspects of projects are updated via the project reporting process and are proactively reported to the relevant Project Managers as well as your line manager.
13. Become company focal point for communication with the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
14. Keep up to date with industry engineering best practice.
15. Mentor and coach junior engineers.
16. Hold a company mobile phone and be contactable for project/operational support as required.
Desirable skills, knowledge & Experience:
1. Chartered Chemical Engineer (IChemE).
2. Experience with topside & subsea, process and utility piping systems/equipment in both Green & brownfield applications.
3. Experience with drilling rigs and drilling activities and subsea engineering and subsea equipment.
4. Successfully line managing designers and out-sourced / third party scopes and packages.
5. Experience in Wellhead & Xmas tree interfacing.
6. Knowledge of HIPPS.
7. Experience with BIM & digital twin systems.
8. Pressure Vessel design.
9. Offshore oil & gas Piping (process) systems design.
10. Competent/expert user of HYSYS steady state, HYSYS Dynamics, PIPESIM, PIPENET, Flaresim, Phast, etc.
11. Commercial acumen (the ability to identify the opportunity to earn money / margin from projects).
12. Desire to introduce new methods to improve business & customer orientated solutions.
13. Prepared and available to travel, as required by project needs.
