As our dedicated UX researcher, you’ll have the opportunity to define and embed research best practices while working alongside a highly collaborative team of designers, product managers, and engineers. Your insights will directly shape our product roadmap, ensuring we build features that make investing accessible, engaging, and rewarding. Key Responsibilities In this role, you will: Lead end-to-end research initiatives, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and other methodologies, to ensure a deep understanding of customer needs. Analyse research data rigorously to uncover meaningful insights and translate them into actionable recommendations for the product team. Develop and refine UX research processes to improve efficiency and ensure high-quality research outputs across the team. Work closely with product designers, product managers, and engineers to incorporate research findings into product strategy and design decisions. Champion a customer-centric approach in product development, ensuring that user needs are always front and centre. Provide mentorship to designers and other team members on research best practices, fostering a culture of user-centered design. Manage research resources, including participant recruitment, research tools, and budgeting, to ensure projects are executed effectively. Align research efforts with broader business goals, ensuring stakeholders are engaged and informed about research findings. Stay up to date with UX research trends and advancements, including emerging technologies like AI, to continuously evolve research methodologies. Help cultivate a strong research and design culture within Freetrade, promoting innovation and data-driven decision making. About You You’ll be a great fit if you have: A bachelor’s degree in UX research, design, human-computer interaction, related fields, or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of experience in user research, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or consumer - facing digital products. Experience across different research methods - qualitative and quantitative, attitudinal and behavioural, generative and evaluative. A pragmatic approach to research, knowing when to go deep and when to move fast. A strategic mindset, able to balance long-term research goals with quick-turnaround insights that influence product development. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise research data into clear, actionable recommendations. Experience working closely with product designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to drive meaningful product improvements. Confidence in using research tools—experience with Dovetail, UserTesting.com, Zoom, and Google Meet is a plus. Strong sense of empathy - you adopt the mindset of the customer. An ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, balancing multiple projects and priorities effectively. Experience working within or deep knowledge of financial services.
