We have an opportunity to appoint an empathetic and student-centred individual as Assistant SENDCO with a focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH). We are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our students and in this key role you will work with some of our most vulnerable students supporting them in accessing the help they require to feel safe, well, included and fully supported to achieve within school and beyond.
Under the direction of the SENDCo, the successful candidate will provide support to students with SEMH needs to overcome barriers to learning and develop coping strategies. You will collaborate with teachers, key staff, parents and external agencies to assist with implementing effective strategies for SEMH support. The postholder will also develop and oversee interventions to promote emotional resilience and positive behaviour.
Applications welcomed from individuals with or without QTS.
Ideal candidates will have a certificate in Mental Health First Aid or other relevant course, or be willing to undertake the training. You will have had experience working within an educational environment or with young people and experience with Early Help Assessments. You will possess the skills to form effective relationships and collaborations with all stakeholders.
