VACANCY—PRACTICE MANAGER
We are seeking a full-time Practice Manager to join Mairches Medical Practice, a newly merged practice serving approximately 11,300 patients within the beautiful setting of the Scottish Borders. We want to appoint a manager who can drive forward practice development and facilitate Mairches Medical Practice to reach its full potential. Our Practice Manager will be closely involved in the ongoing evolution of our strategic and business goals.
We are looking for a dynamic and resourceful manager with strong interpersonal skills to lead our supportive and friendly team and support our future growth. The role requires flexibility, as the individual will need to work across both practice sites and will involve Monday to Friday working. We need an individual with a proactive approach to ensure effective management and to implement standard processes in both practice sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operational functions and managing stakeholder relationships. Pay scale will link remuneration to level of experience and subject to negotiation for the correct candidate (guide income in the range of £50,000 to £80,000). A pay scale of £60- £80K would be for an exceptional candidate with a proven track record and outstanding capabilities. Appropriate remuneration will be made available for a candidate who can perform at an elevated level. This role is eligible for inclusion in NHS Pension Scheme with an employer contribution rate of 22.5%.
Main duties of the job:
The role involves supporting the Partnership in strategic planning and practice management, ensuring compliance with national requirements and fulfilling all contractual obligations. The jobholder will oversee the efficient and safe operation of the Practice, leading all aspects of its management. This includes strategic planning, human resources, finance, organisational structure and services, premises management, information technology, clinical governance, quality and performance management, as well as health and safety.

Mairches Medical Practice is across two sites, Galashiels and Hawick with one site privately owned by the GP partners and one site a Health Board owned premises. We provide medical cover in Hawick Community Hospital also. We have six GP partners, three salaried GPs, a GP fellow and a team of Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and experienced admin staff. We have an educational role, hosting final year medical students – and are recognised by Edinburgh University as a place of teaching excellence. We are committed to providing a high standard of care within the NHS and additionally we provide Locally Enhanced Services for the benefit of our patients. We run an efficient business demonstrated through benchmarking against other practices.
