A4 is a 35-bedded surgical ward specialising in colorectal and general surgery. Our ward provides a fast-paced environment where the care we deliver can be demanding, but equally offers extensive learning opportunities and the chance to grow professionally in a supportive setting.
We also care for patients in our Intermediate Surgical Care Unit (ISCU), where nurse-to-patient ratios are adjusted based on patient needs. ISCU serves as an important bridge between standard ward care and level 2/3 care, ensuring that our patients receive the specialised care they require at every stage of their recovery.
We are looking for a committed Nurse who is dedicated to providing exceptional care and ensuring that we consistently perform to the highest standards, achieving the best outcomes for our patients. You will work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team including surgical consultants, nurse practitioners, and critical care outreach, in a collaborative environment that promotes learning and growth.
We Offer:
* Comprehensive Training Programme: We'll support your development and provide you with the training you need to advance your nursing and surgical skills.
* Collaborative Team Environment: Work with an experienced, multidisciplinary team, including surgeons, consultants, nurse practitioners, and critical care outreach teams.
* Supportive Workplace: We foster a friendly and respectful environment where learning from each other and mutual support is central to our success.
Main duties of the job

* Someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is committed to achieving the best patient outcomes.
* A forward-thinking individual with a professional approach to nursing and a desire to develop in their role.
* Provide high-quality patient care: Deliver compassionate and effective care to patients within the surgical unit, ensuring their needs are met with the highest standards.
* Work collaboratively with the MDT: Engage with surgeons, nurse practitioners, and critical care outreach teams to deliver coordinated care and ensure positive patient outcomes.
* Assist in the Intermediate Surgical Care Unit (ISCU): Provide enhanced care for patients requiring a higher level of monitoring, bridging the gap between standard ward care and level 2/3 care.
* Ensure safety and comfort: Monitor patients' condition and provide interventions as necessary, including administering medications, observing vital signs, and responding to patient concerns.
* Participate in patient education and discharge planning: Support patients and their families with education on post-operative care, recovery, and discharge planning.
* Maintain accurate patient records: Ensure all documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with Trust policies and standards.
* Support team development: Engage in ongoing learning and development, participate in training sessions, and contribute to the development of the team.
