Learning Mentor - Sports and Fitness Interventions
We are excited to offer a new role here at DLC to start ASAP. We are currently expanding our provision and developing our offer to best support our students. Our new Learning Mentor for Sport and Fitness will provide tailored support to students facing challenges in school by implementing effective interventions that promote physical development, teamwork, and personal growth. The role will involve identifying individual needs, designing targeted strategies, and fostering an inclusive, motivating environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed and thrive in both sports and fitness activities. Personalised instruction and support will help students overcome obstacles, build confidence, and develop the skills necessary for long-term success in physical education.
The role will involve taking some P.E. activities, developing and overseeing gym programs on site and at local gyms, one-to-one and team coaching, and developing the sports and fitness offer for DLC.
This is a part-time role working term time only - 39 weeks a year.
Dorchester Learning Centre provides education for the most vulnerable students in Dorset. We are the only school in Dorset that has the Trauma and Mental Health Informed School accreditation. We are a learning community that is child-centred, putting the needs of our students first. We look to appoint dynamic, creative, and resilient individuals to the role of Learning Mentor within our school. We know from Ofsted and our experience that we get the best out of our students when they have secure and positive relationships with staff and that they are able to learn most effectively when these are in place.
We passionately believe that happy, highly respected employees make for good teaching and support staff. We therefore take the wellbeing of our staff very seriously and ensure that they all maintain a healthy work-life balance. Successful candidates will be prepared to work hard and respond to the daily challenges of school life but won't have any unreasonable demands placed upon them. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible if you are interested in this post, as we will shortlist as applications are received.
