Main duties of the job
We're looking for someone to produce high-quality and engaging communications to support both internal and external activity for the people we care for, the people who work for us, and our partners. As part of this, you would be:
* To plan and deliver impactful and outcome-focused communications campaigns, plans and content that support the organisation’s strategic priorities – flexing between working collaboratively, with colleagues and external stakeholders, and working autonomously.
* To support the delivery of our new identity, helping relevant stakeholders (both internal and external) understand the changes and the actions they need to take as a result.
* To proactively source good news stories, and convey them in the way that is best suited to different audience’s needs, that help the organisation raise awareness of its mission and services and deliver its strategic priorities.
* To support the planning, delivery and promotion of corporate events.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* To confidently provide expert strategic communications advice to colleagues at all levels within the organisation.
* To support the regular evaluation of communications’ effort to glean insights that usefully inform future work and allow the production of regular reports to senior members of the trust.

Experience
* Experience creating and delivering effective, audience-focused communications plans and campaigns.
* Experience using a broad range of communications channels and creating engaging content that resonates with target audiences.
* Experience monitoring communications activity and evaluating its effectiveness.
* Experience managing media requests, interviews and engagement efforts.
* Experience helping to support the delivery of internal and external events.
Skills
* Ability to process complex information and translate it into plainly expressed messages & engaging content that resonates with different audiences.
* Ability to create and effectively edit short-form video, create suitable content for social media channels and update digital content management systems.
* Ability to work on multiple projects, effectively identify organisational priorities and manage your own time.
Knowledge
* Understanding of different audiences and knowledge of how best to use tone, language and formats to reach them.
* Understanding of how to influence and authoritatively advise key stakeholders.
* Understanding of the NHS and the healthcare sector.

27 days for full time or pro rata if part time.

Staff Support
KMPT offers a face-to-face counselling service for any issues not just work related problems.
Learning and Development opportunities
In addition to the mandatory subjects, there are a number of leadership, management and staff topic areas, including coaching and mentoring.
Induction
KMPT is committed to supporting all new staff and this includes a comprehensive Induction programme. The programme's duration depends on role and can be from 2 days to 4 weeks (not always consecutive days).
The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT’s subject specialists and include the required training.
The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.
New starter bonus: At the Trust we really value our nurses and the skills they bring. To recognise this we offer a New Hire Bonus of £1200 pro rata for band 5 and 6 nursing staff.
Probation Period
New employees external to Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust are subject to a six-month probationary period.
To deliver an effective service, it is essential in some of our roles that you are able to travel between work bases in a timely manner.
Production of false or forged documents/qualifications in order to obtain employment is a criminal offence and will be reported to the Police.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Certain roles are subject to criminal record checks called Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks. Therefore, you will be required to submit a completed Disclosure form to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
