We are seeking to appoint a Practice Nurse on a permanent contract for 37.5 hours per week to be worked, Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri.
We are an established GP training practice for vocational training and offer training support for nurses and pharmacists too. We are committed to the professional development of our staff at East Shore Partnership.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be:
* RGN qualified and have NMC registration
* Have successfully completed the General Practice Nurse training
* Competent with Childhood Immunisations, Cervical Smears, Wound care and Travel Vaccinations.
* Ideally possess experience with managing Diabetes, Asthma and COPD
* A team player, able to work without direct supervision
* Demonstration of continuing professional development

East Shore Partnership is an inner-city practice based in Portsmouth, Hampshire. It is within easy access to road/rail links and good local schools and colleges. We are a friendly and forward-thinking practice which serves over 13,500 patients within the local area. We have an excellent QOF achievement and are a member of Brunel Primary Care Network.
Job responsibilities
To provide assessment, treatment, screening, health education services and advice, working in accordance with the NMC Code of Conduct.
Provide nursing treatments (following specific training and within agreed protocols and guidelines) to patients independently or in participation with nurse colleagues and general practitioners with reference to agreed protocols and guidelines:
* Patient assessment
* ECGs
* Dopplers
* Dressing ulcers & wounds
* Venepuncture
* Injections & immunisations (child & travel vaccination)
* Cervical smears
* Undertake the collection of pathological specimens
* New patient medicals
* Prepare for and assist the doctor in minor operation procedures
* Family planning advice
* Pre-conceptual advice
* Travel medicine and advice
* To act as a chaperone when requested by a clinician.
* Knowledge and participate in regular audits

* Current or previous experience of working in a GP Surgery within Primary Care
Qualifications
* NMC Registration
* GPN training
* GCSE or equivalent minimum grade C in English and Maths
* Diabetes Part 1
* Asthma and COPD
