Job Description
* Global Management of Laboratory Services: Oversee the worldwide service portfolio for the Cosmetics & Hygiene laboratories, encompassing analytical, microbiological, in vitro testing, and regulatory services. Facilitate technical exchanges and method transfers, maintain high quality standards, and drive initiatives to support sales and operational growth within the Cosmetics & Hygiene sector.
* Strategic Business Development: Collaborate closely with SGS Market Affiliates to shape and implement the business development strategy for Cosmetics & Hygiene in key strategic markets, ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
* Cross-Functional Coordination: Engage with other Strategic Business Units (SBUs) to foster cross-BU and cross-regional projects, leveraging synergies for enhanced service offerings and client satisfaction.
* Leadership in Strategic Planning: Contribute as an integral member of the CD&H management team, participating in strategic planning and identifying new business development opportunities. This includes assessing potential new market segments, fostering client relationships, developing innovative service offerings, and exploring mergers and acquisitions to drive business expansion.
* Network of Technical Experts: Establish and coordinate a global network of Cosmetics & Hygiene experts focused on laboratory service categories to facilitate technical exchanges, harmonize and standardize methodologies (e.g., methods, SOPs, test reports), ensure regulatory compliance, and validate new services to optimize capabilities and drive sales.
* Capability Assessments: Organize technical audits, round robin testing, and other evaluation methods to assess and harmonize laboratory capabilities across the network.
* Service Capability Management: Oversee the collection and continual updating of global Cosmetics & Hygiene laboratory service capabilities to effectively support and promote cross-regional sales.
* Affiliate Business Support: Assist selected SGS Affiliates in developing their laboratory service offerings by supporting market and client needs assessments, preparing business cases and CAPEX proposals, and implementing new services (including method transfer, replication, and validation/harmonization).
* Client and Project Support: Ensure that key clients and complex projects receive robust technical support to meet their requirements.
* Incident Investigation: Lead independent investigations for significant customer claims to maintain service quality and client trust.
* Industry Engagement: Enhance SGS’s visibility and industry positioning by actively participating in relevant working groups, conferences, and events.
* Market and Technological Monitoring: Stay updated on key market trends, technological advancements, and competitive activities, collaborating closely with the CD&H management team to translate these insights into strategic actions and tangible business opportunities.
* M&A Due Diligence: Provide scientific and technical expertise to support the evaluation and due diligence processes for mergers and acquisitions.
* Commitment to Safety: Consistently demonstrate safe behavior by upholding the health and safety standards for SGS employees and clients, in accordance with SGS policies and procedures.
* Integrity and Professional Conduct: Maintain adherence to the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times.
Qualifications
Profile Requirements:
* Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the Cosmetics and/or Personal Care industry.
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field; an advanced degree in business development or management is advantageous.
* Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success in driving technical sales and developing new services.
* Leadership: A proactive self-starter with a hands-on approach and the ability to inspire and mobilize teams.
* Global Perspective: Experience working in international and multicultural environments.
* Language Skills: Fluent in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in other languages is a plus.
Required Skills:
* Technical Expertise: Strong competency in at least one area of Cosmetics & Hygiene testing services (e.g., analytical/chemical, microbiological, in vitro cell-based assays).
* Laboratory Operations: Familiarity with lab organization and quality systems (e.g., ISO 17025).
