The facility also provides remanufacturing services of industrial military engines, The Opportunity Due to internal promotion an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager to join the Caterpillar Defense team in Shrewsbury. This is a supervisory position responsible for supporting the manufacturing operation by providing tooling, processes, equipment, etc. needed and is done through coordination of a technical staff assigned to provide for the needs of the shop operation. As we enter an extended period of growth you will be responsible for $5-10M Capital Budget and onboarding several new growth projects more than doubling revenue in the next 2 years. What You Will Do Assignments include assembly, manufacturing and test processes, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, Bill of Material and NPI etc. and requires the coordination of all disciplines. - Coordinates the selection, purchase and installation of new machines and equipment, process changes to provide the most efficient and economical manufacture or assembly of quality parts. - Ensures optimum utilisation of equipment and space by coordinating the layout of areas such as storage areas, test equipment, etc. to accommodate the changing production requirements. - Establishes standards and works with shop personnel to resolve problems related to process, tooling, equipment, etc. Ensures implementation of modern technology and effectiveness of equipment and systems. - Coordinates capital projects and budgets for process enhancement and to improve customer satisfaction, conducting research and ensuring proper approvals. Keeps abreast of industry changes by attending product demonstrations and identifies ongoing improvements in processes and technologies to better serve customers. What You Have: This integral leadership position serves as is a leader of leaders, therefore, it is vital that the successful candidate has extensive skills in leading teams within a production/manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process. Level Expert: Manufacturing Safety: Knowledge of manufacturing safety; ability to identify work-related hazards and perform necessary activities to meet regulatory requirements for the safety and protection of workers, environment and site. Level Extensive Experience: Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes. Level Extensive Experience: Manufacturing Equipment : Knowledge of the machining, mechanical, hot test and logistics equipment used in manufacturing; ability to safely operate, maintain, update and store them. Level Extensive Experience: Capacity Planning & Management within MRP systems: Knowledge of tools, approaches and practices for determining production demand and ability to manage resources needed to provide satisfactory levels of service. Level Working Knowledge: Top Candidates will also have - Demonstrated skills within in a manufacturing engineering management role - Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience). - Experience of implementing lean manufacturing methodologies - Change Management - experience of innovating to improve performance and implementation - Proven ability to influence others and transform data into meaningful insights that drive action. - Knowledge of transmissions and engines with respect to machining, assemble and test. Additional Info : This position is currently a hybrid in-office work model at our Shrewsbury facility, with remote work for the remaining days.
