Director of Networks - Data Centre Connectivity Ecosystem
The Director of Networks role is a critical contributor to the value proposition within the Data Centre landscape, with the network ecosystem forming the backbone of the service offerings. The Director of Networks will manage two key aspects: the growth and integration of this ecosystem, and the product and process management of our network offerings to connectivity partners and customers.
This role requires collaboration with ISPs, Tier 1 Networks, Internet Exchanges, SDNs, Fiber providers, and local connectivity providers to deliver services across Data Centres. Working closely with the commercial team, you will help understand customer connectivity needs and use this information to build business cases for attracting the required connectivity providers.
Additionally, this role will require building and maintaining relationships across various business functions such as Marketing, Commercial, Client Services, and Operations to support and grow these networks. A strong understanding of connectivity landscapes, including routing maps and fiber routes, is essential for overcoming challenges related to network integration.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage and grow the connectivity ecosystem across multiple locations, targeting international, regional, and local networks, ISPs, and Internet Exchanges.
* Develop and nurture relationships with connectivity companies, collaborating with commercial teams to secure deployments.
* Create and maintain a comprehensive carrier list, documenting all connectivity options for customers at each site.
* Collaborate with marketing on regular marketing activities with connectivity partners, including press releases, events, white papers, and case studies.
* Work with hyperscalers and other strategic customers to understand network requirements and use insights to guide the evolution of the ecosystem.
* Support the site acquisition team with network intelligence and carrier presence insights for new site acquisitions.
Commercial Support:
* Assist the sales team with connectivity expertise during the sales process.
* Provide ongoing support to the Relationship Management team on network discussions during customer reviews.
* Generate opportunities for deployments by working with connectivity partners, collaborating with the commercial team to close deals.
* Deliver regular training to the commercial team on the connectivity options available.
Network Product Management:
* Work with the Product Management team to develop a portfolio of network products for customers, including live and passive racks, cross-connects, and structured cabling.
* Collaborate on promotional strategies to attract network customers to the sites.
* Develop a resale product offering for customers seeking colocation and network services together.
* Understand network routes and fiber entry points, producing documentation for customers and internal stakeholders.
* Evaluate potential future network products and their integration into the current offerings.
Process Management:
* Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure network and connectivity processes are aligned across the business.
* Work with site operations to ensure compliance with principles and standards.
* Support service operations in managing network and connectivity products through the Service Desk.
* Collaborate with commercial leadership to align sales incentives with network ecosystem goals.
Skills & Experience:
* Strong relationships with key networks, ISPs, SDNs, and Internet Exchanges.
* Experience in building network and connectivity ecosystems, along with business development within the industry.
* Proven ability to solve problems and produce thorough documentation.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with senior management, sales teams, and customers.
* Leadership and people management skills with the ability to work independently.
* Experience in network product creation, design, implementation, and project management.
