Reports to: Senior Producer
Department: Video Production
Location: Leeds
Job Grade: P1
Duration: 12 month Fixed Term Contract (Secondment for internal employees)
JOB PURPOSE
Working alongside a dedicated team of digital creatives, you will be creating original social media content for multiple platforms. This includes filming and editing our original digital productions as well as larger scale shoots supporting the channels marketing aims.
The Digital Video Editor/Shooter requires a passion and strong knowledge of what works across the content spectrum digitally and on all social media platforms. You should have a great working knowledge of professional cameras, sound and lighting equipment, be technically versatile, and be comfortable collaborating with production crew and talent. You should be an expert in the technical requirements of camera work, editing, and the wider Adobe suite.
You should have experience of creating engaging content, to brief, and working with a variety of stakeholders/agencies at every level. You should be detail obsessed and creatively driven. Dependent on the shooting schedule, some travel and out of hours working will be required and expected.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* You should be technically proficient with a wide range of digital production techniques and camera equipment.
* You'll be at home filming and editing content for youth audiences, knowing how to make content engaging from the first frame. A strong awareness of best practices across multiple platforms is vital.
* Ability to manage and troubleshoot multicamera shoots if required.
* You'll also have experience filming and editing content to brief, and helping teams film & edit fresh, unique approaches to digital and social-first content.
* You'll be intensely interested in evolving creative and technical processes to ensure our video production is as innovative and efficient as possible.
* Yes, it's a cliché, but you're a 'social native' and you know the difference between a hit and a miss - your editing magic might even be able to turn a miss into a hit.
* We want to be seen as a cutting-edge brand. You must be abreast of developments in the world of social media and what the implications might be for us.
* You'll be an expert with Premiere Pro; knowing a little After Effects is a plus.
* You can follow briefs very closely but also take a loose brief and return work of an excellent standard.
* You'll be able to turnaround topical content quickly and to the required standard to allow us to jump on trends.
* You'll understand the nuances of shooting for different types of social media and be brimming with ideas to get the best possible results, whether in vertical, square or standard setups.
* You need to be familiar with health and safety procedures for productions.
* You will need to be tonally versatile as your team could be making content for Channel 4, E4, and other brands.
* You will be required to manage the sometimes competing demands of key stakeholders. Cool under pressure and excellent powers of persuasion are required.
* You will need to have a good working relationship with Legal & Compliance, who are there to make sure we stay the right side of the line rather than to clip your wings.
* You won't be responsible for reporting, but you should still be interested in results and be able to find out what's done well and what hasn't - this information should inform your future work.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
* You'll ideally have experience on several professional productions and worked on shoots as a camera operator. You'll be confident around talent and crew and be able to take the lead on the setup and execution of a shoot.
* You should be a good troubleshooter for camera, lighting, and sound equipment.
* You'll have a good understanding of camera profiles, formats, lenses, composition, and know the workings of data wrangling, ingestion, and distribution.
* You'll have worked in the digi/social editing world, with experience of editing content at scale and with extremely swift turnaround times.
* Should have strong experience in editing creative projects in order to meet the creative brief.
* Must have a thorough understanding of processes, workflows, tools, and methodologies.
* Must have an understanding of post-production processes including colour-correcting edits, exporting and delivering assets to a variety of technical specifications.
* Must have exemplary camera and Premiere Pro skills.
