IT Projects Delivery Manager - £64,623 - £68,205.
We are looking for an experienced project management professional to work with a team of project managers to oversee the delivery of a suite of projects that form part of our diverse portfolio. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work for one of the largest police forces in the UK, managing the delivery of a portfolio of services and solutions to police colleagues and our communities.
Your role will be highly collaborative, working with senior leaders and managers within the organisation to cause and enable transformation and improvement that delivers value, and drives the organisation further towards its vision of being an outstanding police service .
Flexible hybrid working is available, you can work from home for a proportion of your week and also spend time with colleagues working in the office (some travel across the force area as required).
Salary - £52,491 - £56,073 + Market allowance
This role is currently eligible for a market supplement in addition to the basic salary to reflect determined market conditions. Eligibility for and value of Market factors are reviewed on an annual basis and are not contractual. It can be confirmed, therefore, that a market supplement at the rate of "£12,132 (pro rata)" per annum will be payable.
Our Project and Programme team:
You will be joining a department of around 120 staff, and a project and programme delivery team of 14 people. We deliver a diverse range of projects that range from ensuring our technical infrastructure is fit for purpose to digital, user centric projects that have a direct impact on the capacity and capability of frontline policing colleagues. A team who is strategic, and passionate about process improvement, innovation and efficiency.
Main Responsibilities:
* To support the Principal Delivery Lead in managing the IT PPM (Project and Programme Management) function leading teams responsible for the management of change, taking care of their wellbeing, professional development, performance management and ensuring consistent standards.
* To shape, influence and facilitate technical and digital change initiatives through the complete IT Project lifecycle, ensuring they consistently deliver business and technical requirements and benefits, within agreed tolerances
* To take responsibility for particular portfolios of projects and programmes - including managing interdependencies and being a single point of contract for key stakeholders relating to that business area.
* Managing larger or more complex projects and programmes of activity as required acting in the capacity of Project or Programme Manager.
* To maintain excellent technical awareness and understanding, including staying up to date with new technologies, and be able to facilitate debate and drive decisions on appropriate solutions.
* To anticipate, manage and resolve issues, ensuring appropriate governance channels are used to escalate, document and audit decisions as required
* To enable customer success, by supporting stakeholders to identify and articulate their business problems, and work as an intermediary between customers and IT project and technical teams to facilitate effective joint working, and the design and delivery of appropriate solutions.
* Proactively identify and address resistance to change by providing guidance and support to individuals and teams. Implement strategies to overcome resistance, such as conducting workshops, one-on-one coaching, and fostering a culture of open dialogue.
* Facilitate a strong 'people focused culture', including recruitment, development and leadership of a team to maximise performance, retention, development, training and internal promotion.
What we are looking for:
* A good understanding of project and/or programme and/or portfolio management
* Has held a management role in a relevant setting of commensurate responsibility including, leading, managing, developing and supporting people and teams.
* Excellent communication skills that are effective in a variety of situations and settings, ensuring that complex matters are articulated clearly and provide a strong narrative.
* Experience of leading significant digital / technical change activity in a complex organisation.
* Experience of creating and developing strong teams and managing remote teams with varying workloads and remit.
* Educated to degree level (or equivalent) or with equivalent professional experience.
* The post holder should ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the force using alternative transport.
