Purpose of the role:
Working as part of the integrated Contractor/Sub-Contractor project team – led by the Project Leader - the Project Manager (Coatings) will be responsible to the Senior Project Manager (Coatings) for planning, coordination, and execution of works in support of specialist coating application across the HPC site.
The package of works comprises the following:
The application of specialist coating systems to concrete and or steel structures/buildings in accordance with the Client approved design requirements for the nuclear new build facility at HPC. The specific scope of works supports the execution of coatings works to circa 7000 rooms – specifically to concrete for this role, albeit interfaces with steel works will be required.
Technical Knowledge:
The job holder will be responsible for :
• Managing and coordination of a programme of work(s) for the application of coating systems in accordance with the client’s design requirements, across allocated buildings at the HPC site.
• Reporting progress/schedule adherence against the programme demands whilst managing multiple interfaces of others works.
• As part of an integrated project management team, including Bylor and the specialist subcontractor – managing and overseeing a team of coatings operatives. Note - experience of specialist coatings is desirable, but not essential.
• Ensuring works on site are carried out safely with due regard to the protection of the workforce, public and the environment.
• Ensuring all works are constructed efficiently, to the required quality and in accordance with the project programme.
• Evaluating and preparing Early Warnings notices to project controls and describe mitigating measures.
• Managing and coordinating subcontractors works and documentation.
• Preparing and reviewing Method Statements and ITPs. Coordinating materials approvals process.
• Producing weekly reports on site progress.
• Complying with requirements outlined in Bylor’s Environmental Management Plan.
• Fulfilling Health & Safety responsibilities by adhering to the Company’s Health & Safety Policy and Management Plans
Key Skills & Competencies Mandatory:
• Good working knowledge of English, both written and verbal and to be able to report at management level.
• Comprehensive experience of working within the Construction sector, nuclear sector experience is also an advantage, but not necessary.
• Computer skills to create documents such as managerial reports, emails, spreadsheets etc.
• Have excellent Organisational skills and the ability to plan and manage own time.
• Supervisory CSCS Card (Black).
Desirable:
• Construction experience.
• Membership of an appropriate Professional body.
• NEC contracts. • Industrial coatings experience.
• Excellent Presentation skills.
• Effective negotiating skills
• A good working knowledge of the:
o Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
o Construction Health, Safety and Welfare Regulations 1996
o Construction Design and Management Regulations 2007
o Management of health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999
