The role of the Business Development Manager - South
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a highly driven, motivated and dynamic Business Development Manager to join our clients highly performing and ambitious sales team, covering the Southern territory which is a region with huge growth opportunity. Your day to day will involve both meeting with existing clients and potential new customers, selling a fantastic range of market leading products from within the gardening category, including tools, wildlife habitats and decorative products.
In this role you will need to demonstrate excellent rapport building, listening, and customer service skills, to effectively manage & grow a well established account base, as well as demonstrate second to none negotiation and relationship building skills to develop new relationships with lapsed accounts and potential new accounts.
Operating from home you will need to be highly organized, self motivated and efficient, setting and attending regular visits to existing and new clients to introduce, upsell and place orders with clients. Your account base will be made up of independent Homeware Stores, DIY, Garden Center's, Discounter Stores, and Farm Shops, and you will be dealing with a variety of decision makers including Owners, Buyers and Managers so you will need to be highly adaptable and flexible in your approach.
With vast number of products in the portfolio, which offers everything you could require to take care of your lawn, as well as general gardening activities and decorative items etc...you have a broad range to present to existing and potential customers, and you are tasked with educating clients on the best range for their customers, as well as ensuring they are aware of any new products being launched. Your role will be a split of 75% account management and 25% new business to begin with, but this will lean more towards 60% account management and 40% new business once you have established strong relationships with the existing account base.
This role covers a wide geographical area from Cornwall across to Oxford, down into the London area (outside of the M25) across to Kent and everything below this including all of the South Coast, so you will need to be highly organized, highly efficient in your journey planning and there is an expectation for you to be in the field 4 days per week. There will also be overnight stays during the week as required.
The Person
· A stable and proven track record in sales, minimum 2 years experience in a B2B, Field sales sales role
· Happy to spend 1 night a week away
· Demonstrate the the use of EPOS data and similar to identify patterns/trends and guide and drive approach.
· Ambitious, motivated, driven and highly organized.
