Summary: The postholder will provide a scheduled preventative and breakdown maintenance service to the manufacturing, warehouse and office environments at the Abingdon & Didcot facilities. Using the Permit to Work system, follow Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures, Work Method Statements, and Risk Assessments (both job specific and generic) to ensure the tasks are defined, carried out to correct standards and in a safe manner, and handed over to the user. There is a rotating shift in operation (Week one 6am - 2pm and Week two 2-10pm).
Responsibilities Include:
1. Wear appropriate PPE depending on the tasks undertaken.
2. Complete Dynamic Risk Assessment and Permit to Work documentation and participate in clear handover of items from user to engineering and the reverse after work completed.
3. Carry out routine and emergency repairs to mechanical equipment.
4. Agree with supervisors the timing of scheduled maintenance work and use the scheduled maintenance control system.
5. Routine maintenance on plant service equipment (Production vessels, cooling towers, etc.).
6. Observe the workplace and report/repair faulty equipment.
7. Maintain a clean and tidy work area, particularly the workshop areas, and clear away tools and debris after carrying out maintenance work elsewhere.
8. Maintain stocks of engineering consumables and request replacements when needed.
9. Carry out and/or assist in routine testing and inspection of engineering equipment and systems.
10. Assist with management of Contractors as and when required.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Mechanical engineering qualifications or the ability to demonstrate experience and competence in this area.
2. Basic welding skills.
3. Some electrical engineering awareness.
4. Full UK driving licence.
5. Team player with good communication skills.
6. Physically fit due to the hands-on nature of the role.
7. Health & Safety, Manual Handling, First Aid or any other qualifications relating to operations within the engineering environment.
8. Counterbalance and/or Flexi (or equivalent front pivoted FLT) forklift licence.
9. TIG welding competence.
