We are looking to recruit Field Trial Technicians to work in plant variety trials. The roles will involve sample collection and measuring plant characteristics in the field and via image analysis and a range of other practical tasks. This is a great opportunity to gain experience in agricultural field crops/plot trials while developing professional skills in team-working, time management and practical problem-solving. No experience is required, but an interest in plant sciences is beneficial. All training will be provided.
The work can be physically demanding at times and will entail spending substantial periods working outdoors, in all weather conditions.
Salary: £23,492 per annum, depending on experience, with overtime and weekend working possible during peak time
Contract: Fixed term from 1 April 2025 to 30 August 2025
Working hours:
* Full-time: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week (8.00am to 4.00pm)
* Part-time: Monday to Friday, hours/days negotiable
ABOUT YOU
Essential requirements:
* An interest in agriculture/plant sciences and a willingness to learn
* A good eye for detail
* The ability to follow strict protocols
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work as part of a team
Desirable requirements:
* A driving licence or access to independent means of travelling, enabling you to travel to trial sites within a 20-minute radius. Transport can be provided

LOCATION
The role is based at NIAB Park Farm, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9NZ, 4 miles from Cambridge city centre, but there may be a requirement to work at off-site trials. Free on-site parking and linked by cycleways and regular buses to Cambridge city centre and railway station. Close to Junction 32 of A14, with easy access to M11, A10 and A11.
