As we continue to grow, we are looking for a passionate, determined and resilient Head of Governance and Quality who wants to make a difference in the areas that we work in as well as within their career. The Head of Quality and Governance provides leadership and strategic direction for the Quality and Governance in the organsation (SARC, Custody or any new services). This role ensures the implementation and coordination of functions related to patient safety, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, and accreditation standards. The post holder works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring services are safe, effective, and aligned with best practices. Additionally, the role includes oversight of compliance with regulatory bodies such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and accreditation standards, including UKAS ISO 15189 in the development and implementation of ISO 15189 and the FSR Code of Practice leading up to accreditation Some key responsibilities include: · Provide strategic input to the organisation’s leadership team, ensuring quality and governance considerations are embedded into the organisation’s overarching strategy and objectives. • Align the Quality and Governance Team’s activities with the organisation’s long-term goals and priorities. • Identify emerging trends in healthcare governance, accreditation, and safety, proactively advising the organisation on strategic opportunities and risks. • Lead the development and implementation of innovative strategies to improve patient safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Quality and Governance Team. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and accountability within the team and the wider organisation. • Develop and deliver training resources in collaboration with operational teams to enhance patient safety knowledge and practice. Serve as an expert governance resource, supporting the organisation with incident identification, closure, and quality control. • Collate, analyse, and present safety performance data, including themes and trends, to inform decision-making and strategic planning. • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, CQC Nominated Individual, and National SARC Director to: o Coordinate CQC inspections, assessments, or visits, addressing findings and implementing improvements. o Respond to CQC information requests. o Develop and implement CQC compliance tools. • Lead and oversee the organisation’s compliance with UKAS accreditation standards, specifically ISO 15189, ensuring policies and procedures meet the required criteria by adhering and supporting the maintenance of ISO 15189 and the FSR Code of Practice compliance including post accreditation • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team, CQC Nominated Individual, and National SARC Director to: o Coordinate internal audits and manage external UKAS (FSR) ISO 15189 inspections, assessments, or visits, addressing findings and implementing improvements. o Respond to UKAS (FSR) information requests. o Develop and implement UKAS (FSR) compliance tools. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of CQC regulations and UKAS accreditation requirements, advising the organisation on necessary changes or enhancements to ensure ongoing compliance. Registered Healthcare Professional (Nurse, Midwife, Paramedic etc) with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration OR a Degree or equivalent level of qualification in a relevant subject OR proven relevant experience of working at a Senior Level in Healthcare or Quality or Governance
