Job Description: Quantity Surveyor - Groundworks
Location: Urmston, Greater Manchester
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum

The Role:
I am seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a solid background in groundworks to join the team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of the groundworks projects, ensuring that all work is completed within budget and to the highest standards. Your expertise will be crucial in delivering successful outcomes across various types of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Management: Prepare accurate cost estimates for groundworks projects, including new build McDonald’s drive-thrus, residential, and industrial developments.
2. Budget Control: Monitor project costs against budget, identifying and addressing any discrepancies or potential cost overruns.
3. Procurement: Source and manage suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating terms and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and services.
4. Contract Administration: Prepare, review, and administer contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
5. Valuation: Conduct site visits to assess and value work completed, preparing and submitting interim and final valuations.
6. Reporting: Provide regular financial reports and updates to senior management, highlighting key issues and recommendations.
7. Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to cost and schedule, implementing strategies to mitigate these risks.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
About You:
1. Experience: Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in groundworks and civils projects.
2. Knowledge: In-depth understanding of groundworks processes and best practices, including relevant regulations and standards.
3. Skills: Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
5. Software: Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying and project management.
6. Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or a related field (e.g., RICS accreditation or equivalent).
