The role
As a Deputy Nuclear Operations and Maintenance Manager, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll engage with all the stakeholders across the site as well as the submarine platforms, and will have the ability to influence critical programmes.
Day-to-day, you'll ensure work is undertaken compliantly and in a safe and systematic way in accordance with appropriate business management policies and procedures. The role is crucial for Licence Condition 28 - examination, inspection, maintenance and testing; therefore, good knowledge of Nuclear Facilities, Facility Management, and Licence Conditions is essential.
* Providing a comprehensive maintenance service for safety-related equipment and non-safety related equipment under Licensed Site Plant Manager(s) responsibility including maintenance support service to MOD through Babcock contract.
* Proactively reviewing and applying new or changed maintenance processes and regimes ensuring adoption of best and most economical practices for key facilities.
* Providing a proactive interface with the Facility Owner, FPAG Chairman, and Plant Manager Safety Group for all work controls, planning, sub-contract, and material requirements, and with internal and external customers to supply an efficient and economic service.
* Managing a team of site engineers to deliver work packages of examination inspection maintenance testing and project support for various submarine platforms.
* Integrating with external departments to collaboratively deliver a programme of work during facility outage periods.
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and is based on site at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Essential experience of the Deputy Nuclear Operations and Maintenance Manager
* Leadership skills to 'Lead the Leader' and maintain operational excellence.
* In-depth and extensive experience of maintenance management with a multi-disciplined workforce in a safety case environment.
* Demonstrates a complete understanding of contractual and maintenance related procedures.
* Facility management experience in a safety case environment with a demonstrable understanding of the Plant/Facility and its operating principles.
* Experience working within and holding ASQEP or DAP role within a Nuclear Licensed Site.
* Understanding of refit support requirements for the Submarine Deep Maintenance Period and Berthing Maintenance Period - Desirable.
Qualifications for the Deputy Nuclear Operations and Maintenance Manager
* HNC (or Equivalent) within Mechanical or Electrical discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
