Description
A new vacancy for a Principal Transport Planner is now available in Fareham or Cambridge to join a large development planning focused Transport Planning team. They are looking for an experienced Transport Planner with at least 7 years experience.
You will know to show that you are able to lead your own Transport Planning team, work with others to win new work across sectors such as residential, commercial, infrastructure and sports & Leisure.
It will be your responsibility to lead and train your team of transport planners whilst be responsible for the quality assurance and technical output of your team. You will be liaising with stakeholders and clients on a daily basis and work with the Associates to identify new revenue streams and make sure that work is delivered on time and within budget.
Principal Transport Planner Requirements
1. Degree level qualification or equivalent experience
2. Membership of professional organisation, e.g. CIHT
3. At least 7 years transport planning experience
4. Extensive Transport Planning experience, demonstrating practical and theoretical specialist knowledge
5. Experience in managing/training members of staff
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
7. Ability to prioritise workload and delegate tasks
8. Experience of working with computer-based systems including Microsoft programmes
9. Ability to work on own initiative
Principal Transport Planner Requirements
10. Write, check and approve technical reports such as Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and Technical Notes.
11. Good understanding or modelling packages and methodologies to calculate trip generation and distributions
12. Support preparation of and approve technical drawings where appropriate
13. Experience in preparing appeal documentation including Statement of Case, Statement of Common Ground and Proof of Evidence
14. Attendance as expert witness at appeal hearings and/or public inquiries
15. Project manage schemes, including budget and time management
16. Client liaison and management
17. Assist with training and mentoring members of staff to support their career development
18. Attend, contribute and lead towards meetings as appropriate
19. Prepare, check and issue fee proposals and tenders
20. Engage in, and identify, Business Development opportunities including networking events
21. Develop and inform Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and team strategies
22. Line management responsibility including holding appraisals
23. Winning work for the team
24. Be adaptable to assist team members and cover project responsibilities while other colleagues are away
