Art Therapist Specialist SEMH School Temp to Perm contract Ealing £23 - £28 per hour A specialist school for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) are currently looking for a qualified Art Therapist to join their staff on a temporary to permanent basis from February. The Role We are seeking an Art Therapist to work with SEMH students across 2 sites – lower school and upper school for a SEMH provision. Pupils attending the school have varying needs and all are provided with a combined programme of therapy and teaching to meet their needs. You will receive supervision, the support of working within a multi-disciplinary team and They meet together once a week to have group clinical reflections and team meetings. You will liaise with colleagues and external professionals as well as working closely with families. You weekly role will consist of therapeutic work in one to one sessions with a specific child as well as supporting small groups or whole class, depending on need You will support the successful operation of all aspects of the school, as directed by the senior leadership team. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic art therapist, with experience of working with children and families in schools The School This Independent Special Needs School, located in West Ealing, provides a nurturing and supportive environment for up to 60 students aged 5-16. The school is split into the lower school and the upper school with 30 students on each site. The school caters to students with SEMH needs who have struggled in mainstream education and hold Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). To apply for this role you must be and HCPC registered Art Therapist outstanding knowledge and understanding of art therapy as well as wider therapies and their applications Understanding of mental health in children, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma and the impact of abuse and mental health difficulties on child development, attachment and behaviour Understanding of child development, learning and children with SEND Understanding of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation General understanding of the national curriculum and school provision You must be an HCPC registered Art Therapist If you have the appropriate qualifications, skills and experience listed above, please apply with an up-to-date CV.
