As a Business Continuity Resilience, Response and Recovery Officer at WMCA, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing our comprehensive Business Continuity Management System. You'll work closely with the Business Continuity Resilience, Response and Recovery Manager to ensure our plans meet compliance and standards and you'll be a key player supporting response to major incidents, events or significant disruptions. This is a new role and presents a unique opportunity to help shape the future of WMCA Business Continuity planning whilst making a real impact and helping WMCA stay prepared for any challenges that come our way. Please note that this is a 2-year fixed-term contract. What you will be doing. Disaster Recovery Coordination: Support the delivery and synergy of all disaster recovery plans, working closely with the Incident Management Team and individual plan owners during incidents. Continuous Improvement: Shape and support the continuous testing and engagement of WMCA's Resilience, Response and Recovery Plans, including delivering training scenario sessions. Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor Directorate Business Impact Assessments (BIAs) to ensure accuracy and readiness for incident response and recovery. Report findings and recommend improvements. Leadership: Line manage the Business Continuity Resilience, Response and Recovery Programme Coordinator, ensuring their continued development and effective performance. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with operational plan holders across WMCA to ensure a coordinated and intelligence-led approach to Business Continuity planning. Post-Incident Reviews: Conduct and support with reviews and lessons learnt to implement improvements and update response strategies. Training and Awareness: Lead WMCA’s training and exercise plan, organise engagement sessions and ensure ongoing understanding of the Business Continuity Plan among colleagues. Stay informed of relevant legislation and standards, escalating changes that may impact Business Continuity or Emergency Planning. Incident Response: Coordinate incident response with WMCA leads, providing subject matter expertise for detailed planning. Collaboration: Support the West Midlands Local Resilience Forums (LRF) by informing partners about WMCA’s business impact, risks and mitigations. Operational Planning: Plan and coordinate operational and tactical activities for pre-planned events within WMCA. Documentation Management: Ensure all Business Continuity documentation is auditable and up to date. Crisis Communications: Support crisis communications and ensure effective notification to on-call staff and executives. What’s essential. Experience in Event, Emergency or Business Continuity Planning. Demonstrable experience of working with multiple stakeholders and managing the interface. Experience of continuous improvement and identifying where efficiencies can be made. Sound working knowledge and good understanding of the corporate environment. Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Location. The location for this role is 16 Summer Lane, Birmingham, B19 3SD. We currently operate a hybrid working model, with at least 2 days a week spent in the office.
