This role covers all aspects of engineering, maintenance and building services. The operative will be involved in factory production maintenance, communications with management and supervision and has input on current and future projects, especially in relation to machinery, tooling, servicing, Health, Safety & Environmental issues.
Engineering maintenance role:
* Overseeing machinery primary plant maintenance and working as an operative to ensure minimal downtime.
* Able to work independently to problem solve and complete a basic weekly maintenance log.
* Machine Fault diagnosis and rectification, organising maintenance and production team to help identify breakdown issues and carry out remedials within a timescale. Working alongside production operatives who will assist in machine breakdowns
* Identifying and sourcing correct parts for machinery including pneumatic parts, electrical components, hydraulic, mechanical – chains, bearings etc.
* Responsible for general building services maintenance such as lighting, power, water, amenities, compressed air, Extraction System. Ensuring all services are up and running and organising contractors if assistance is required, i.e. drain cleaning and compressed air contractors servicing
* Able to use measuring instruments such as vernier calliper, micrometer, dial Test indicator, able to read pressures and use a multimeter and voltage tester.
* Able to follow Health & Safety procedures and adhere to and understand Risk Assessment and Method statements, follow Lock out tag out systems and Test for dead etc.
* Fire Alarms, Building security system and emergency lighting monitoring and regular testing.
* Keen to upskill in key areas to benefit the overall output of maintenance tasks. i.e. external courses, internal training, procedural training.
* Communicate well with colleagues, workforce, and external contractors to effectively plan, develop and time manage tasks and collectively prioritise daily/weekly tasks with maintenance manager.
* Involved in implementing and following organisational changes in procedures where Health and Safety is of first importance.
* Building rapport within the organisation and with contractors to build relationships to help keep the maintenance process effective, working as a team and using skills from outside the business to ensure lasting contractor relations.
* Willing to work overtime as and when the business requires planned and unplanned maintenance work to be completed outside of usual hours.
* Ideally hold a counterbalance forklift License but not essential as training can be provided.
Experience & Qualifications Required –
Candidate should hold Engineering qualifications such as Mechanical or electrical NVQ L3 and time served apprenticeship or relevant experience. Desirable - Mechanical Fitter, Electrician or evidenced experience in a wood manufacturing maintenance role.
Essential Skills required:
* Stripping down plant to identify and replace parts.
* Previous experience in fault finding on electro/pneumatic control systems such as cylinder actuators, solenoid valves, diaphragm pumps etc and related sensors.
* Isolation – electrical/mechanical/pneumatic
* Measurement using voltage tester, resistance tester, vernier calliper, micrometer, dial Test indicator.
* Using wide range of hand & power tools – drills, angle grinder, chop saw, SDS drill, pneumatic tools, socket sets, torque spanners.
Desirable skills wanted:
* Previous experience on calibrating machinery is desirable, such as setting machinery heights, calibrating applicator rollers, feed tables/conveyors and fences. Desirable experience with PLC’s, solenoids, cylinder actuators and control circuits, chain drives, belt drives, chain, bearing, bushes, rollers, and saws.
* Previous experience in fault finding on electrical equipment such as Distribution boards – lighting and small power, basic control circuits, PLC’s, 3phase Industrial switching, contactors and relays is desirable
