Role overview:
We are looking for a Legal Director (or potentially a Partner) to join our Tier 1 Real Estate Litigation Team in Liverpool to lead on complex tenant and landlord disputes – specifically in the retail sector.
The team is headed up by Kevin Lee who for many years has been rated in all the legal directories as a leading Lawyer in the field of Real Estate litigation.
Introduction to the team:
Our highly experienced team operates from our offices in Liverpool, London, Manchester and Leeds and specialise in the strategy and negotiation needed to obtain the optimum result for clients involved in a dispute at the earliest possible opportunity. They have extensive experience of all forms of alternative dispute resolution as well as formal court proceedings.
Areas of expertise include:
1. Retail occupier property management
2. Real property related litigation
3. Landlord and tenant management and disputes
Key responsibilities:
1. Operate as client contact with senior members of client property teams
2. Attend and lead at regular update meetings
3. Accept instructions from partners in other offices and departments and ensure the work is undertaken promptly and to a high quality and at appropriate level.
4. Joint responsibility for team achieving team budgets and gross margins.
5. Meet personal contribution towards team budget (currently set at £k)
6. Introduce work of appropriate quality into team and the firm generally and demonstrate an ability to generate repeat work from clients - with a year one target / expectation of own client fees of a sum to be discussed dependant on entry level.
7. Collaborate with partners and fee earners in other teams within the wider firm, to promote and generate work for the Real Estate Litigation team and support the overall firm strategy of growth.
8. Support the development of junior fee earners in the team, by mentoring and ensuring that appropriate career development plans are in place.
What we are looking for:
Essential:
1. Clear and demonstrable experience in the retail L&T sector, acting for multi-occupiers.
2. Clear and demonstrable experience of handling complex property litigation matters to trial both as supervising partner / director and case handler
3. Ability to lead client meetings
4. Ability to delegate work to junior fee earners (particularly Act cases), to ensure they are fully resourced and working to capacity
5. Excellent Business Development and Marketing skills
6. A successful record at a similarly well regarded firm to Hill Dickinson, a strong following, and the ability to maintain and grow their client base
