Job overview
We are looking for a digital communications and engagement officer who is passionate about providing innovative ideas, digital expertise and supporting the communications team to deliver key projects.
We have an exciting opportunity for a talented and motivated digital communications officer to join us, as we deliver a number of exciting new digital projects, including significant website and intranet redevelopments.
You will be forward-thinking, with the skills to develop our digital communications channels, engage with the public on social media and provide trusted communications advice to senior managers.
We are a dynamic team supporting more than 10,000 colleagues across numerous locations, working closely together, sharing best practice to ensure we are able to deliver effective communications.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,551 to a maximum of £5,735).
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Digital communications and engagement
• Support with day to day management of the NELFT corporate social media channels ( Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, LinkedIn) including responding to queries from staff, patients and the public.
• To support the maintenance of the NELFT corporate website (including production of content) working with the relevant members of the team.
• To support services/ teams with the appropriate use of digital communications channels in line with NELFT policies and procedures.
• To support developments and projects associated with the website and social channels.
• To horizon scan and advise on partners campaigns that NELFT will be required to support.
• To produce digital campaign assets and materials.
External communications
• To produce and edit films aligned with strategic priorities.
• To take photographs for use in Trust publications and promotional materials.
• To design assets for use across digital channels in support of campaigns and communications projects.
• To support corporate and local events as required including taking photos and videos.
• To coordinate and support the annual calendar of national awareness events ensuring team members are regularly updated on opportunities coming up to link promotional activities.
• To write, edit and proofread content for website, social media and other communications outputs.
Reporting
• To collate performance information from social media and digital channels as required.
• To produce accessibility reports on the website in line with Accessibility Standards.
• To report on key projects and feedback any learning to the team.
• To report on any issues, trends or feedback NELFT receives via social media, the website, ensuring that it is flagged up to the relevant service leads and communications leads for any action/ response.
