What you’ll be doing
1. Leads engineering teams critical to the organisation's performance through the delivery of high-quality solutions within time and budget standards/requirements
2. Mentors, coaches, and manages several teams to develop current and future team capabilities and ensure performance in delivering the most impactful features to both internal and external users of the BT team
3. Leads the team in adopting relevant new technologies, tools, methods and processes that progressively advances service capabilities to its different stakeholders
4. Ensures timely delivery from teams by overseeing compliance with key metrics
5. Operates as an SME within own field of expertise, driving technical decisions, technology choices and contributes to group level discussion around architecture for a wide range of high performance products, capabilities, and platforms, effectively balancing short-term impact with long-term transformation
6. Oversees the team in developing an ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, engineering organisation and defined technology strategy
7. Oversees engineering and operational excellence initiatives, implementing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement through the implementation of processes and tools supporting multiple platforms
8. Ensures team standards of engineering and operational excellence are upheld, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement through the creation and implementation of processes and tools supporting multiple platforms
9. Drives an engineering culture that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products with predictability and reliability
10. Builds 'best-in-class' engineering for services by ensuring that the services and the components are well-defined and modularised, secure, reliable, diagnosable, actively monitored and reusable
11. Leads the evaluation and implementation of high-quality tools and automation processes to support continuous delivery where appropriate
12. Ensures the development and adoption of a DevOps mindset across the engineering teams
13. Leads the implementation of continuous improvement opportunities to improve the software engineering team processes

Experience Required for the Role
Mandatory Experience
29. Proven experience of managing a distributed team of subsea engineering professionals
30. Proven experience agile delivery and implementing best practice engineering standards
31. Proven experience of designing and delivery of subsea cable systems
32. Experience of working with technical and non technical internal stakeholders to understand requirements and implications of new technologies.
33. Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to understand, evaluate and validate new technologies / patterns.
34. Develop and maintain comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategies to build and maintain positive relationships with government agencies and regulatory bodies.
