Job Summary
We are seeking to recruit a team lead for our oral health improvement service, the Healthy Smile Team. Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust is commissioned to deliver a range of evidence-based community oral health improvement programmes as identified within the NHS England and Improvement specification. The Oral Health Improvement Service currently operates across Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. The post holder will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues across the whole area but will be based primarily in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.

Main Duties of the Job
The service delivers a range of targeted evidence-based community oral health improvement programmes in key settings including supervised tooth brushing and care homes programmes. The team works closely with partners in health, education, social care and the voluntary sector to improve oral health and reduce inequalities in oral health.
The successful applicant will be responsible for supporting the team in the delivery and monitoring of these projects, alongside other team colleagues in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin, under the guidance of the oral health improvement service lead. The team lead should have experience in partnership working, managing teams, and planning and delivering oral health improvement programmes or similar programmes. However, training and support will be provided.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A degree or equivalent in health or social care in a subject relevant to public health or equivalent specialised experience in this field.
* An appropriate dental qualification and appropriate qualification in Oral Health Improvement (Post certification level and above).
* Willingness to participate in leadership and financial resource management training if limited previous experience.
Experience
* Experience of Project Management.
* Experience of leading a project or team.
* Experience of developing and managing oral health improvement programmes, training or events across organisational boundaries.
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to work to tight and often challenging timescales.
* Good written and verbal communication.
* Skills in delivering oral health messages to a range of stakeholders (clinical and non-clinical) both internal and external to SCHT.
* Knowledge of best practice and evidence of effectiveness in oral health improvement.
* Understanding of health improvement principles and methodologies.
Other
* Be able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
