Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday (This will include evening work & school holidays)
Salary: A£31,200 - A£33,150 per annum

Great Yarmouth & Gorleston Young Carers (GYGYC) is a small charity whose aim is to offer a seamless support service to young carers (5-16) and young adult carers (17-19) who live across the Borough of Great Yarmouth.
The description of a young carer is a young person who supports their parents/guardians who have an illness, disability, or issues around drugs or alcohol, or a mental health condition, or supports their parents/guardians to look after a sibling or another family member. This caring role can have a dramatic effect on their lives, their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
Our support package consists of one-to-one mentoring support where we work with our young carers to enable them to develop their resilience, self-esteem and confidence to thrive, despite the challenges they face. Alongside our peer support groups, young people can access support from adults within the group, have respite from their caring responsibilities, meet and make friends with other young people in similar situations, and develop a support network through gaining awareness and information around their caring role.
The Role - Assistant Manager:
The Assistant Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the charity, ensuring that our support package is delivered efficiently and effectively. Reporting to the Manager, you will work to lead and motivate a small team, maintain and continue to build on the partnerships with external stakeholders, and contribute to our long-term strategy of the charity to improve the lives of young carers.
Responsibilities - Assistant Manager:
1. Assist in the overall management of the charity's operations and services.
2. Support the development and delivery of GYGYC support package for young carers.
3. Deliver the support package to young carers through leading peer support group sessions and undertaking one-to-one mentoring.
4. Work with the Manager to manage and supervise a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring their work aligns with the charity's goals.
5. Maintain and continue to build on the relationships GYGYC has with schools, local authorities, and other partners to raise awareness and support for young carers' needs.
6. Work with the Manager to find, apply and report on grant funding and the finances of the charity.
7. Step into the Manager's role when required, ensuring continuity of services.
8. Work with and report to the board of Trustees with the Manager.
Requirements - Assistant Manager:
1. Passionate and committed to improving the lives of young carers.
2. Organise, manage, and complete priorities on time.
3. Confident in working with a diverse range of stakeholders.
4. A team player with strong communication and collaboration skills.
5. Adaptable and skilled at problem solving and able to work on your own initiative.
6. Competent in the use of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word and Excel.
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
8. Understanding of the challenges faced by young carers and a passion for making a difference in their lives.
9. Knowledge of safeguarding practices and policies, health and safety policies, and undertaking risk assessments.
10. Access to your own car. (Essential)
11. Experience supervising/managing and motivating teams, preferably within the charity sector. (Essential)
12. Youth Work experience. (Essential)
13. National Youth Work qualification of level 3 or above or equivalent. (Essential)
