Medway Parking Services are looking for a dedicated and responsible person to work within the Parking Maintenance Department. This is a small team that maintain our local authority run car parks. This is an interesting and varied role, that would suit someone that has a skill for fixing and maintaining equipment or is a keen and quick learner. Although knowledge of the maintenance of parking equipment is beneficial, on the job training will be given. This position is integral in ensuring that the parking income stream is protected, by making sure that parking equipment is maintained and kept operational, alongside inspecting our car parks for faults and safety issues. Equipment that you would learn to maintain would include pay and display parking machines and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) barrier systems. In addition to the practical side of this position, there will be a requirement for daily and monthly documentation to be updated, therefore, a reasonable knowledge of the usual Windows computer packages would be advantageous. This is a public facing role with the majority of your day spent travelling around the Medway Towns visiting the 50 car parks and multiple on street pay and display parking bays that would fall under your responsibility, whatever the weather. You will require strong customer service and communication skills and be comfortable in speaking to a wide range of diverse people, upkeeping the Medway council code of conduct. In this position no two days are the same, with the requirement to often aid our events team and external contractors in their specific needs within our car parks. The successful applicant will work a 37-hour week covering Monday – Sunday 7am – 8pm on a rota basis and report to the Parking Maintenance Supervisor. A van is used to travel from site to site so a manual driving licence will be essential. Due to the nature of the service that we offer, there may be a need for some flexibility in the hours that are worked and requirement for some paid for overtime on occasion.
