We're a global leader in the design, manufacture and supply of digital radio products, systems and applications developed specifically for business and mission critical communications. Based in our Cambridge development centre and reporting to The Mechanical Verification Team Leader, the successful individual would be involved in the whole lifecycle of product development. Working as part of a dynamic team and interfacing with the other technical disciplines, responsibilities will include but not be limited to: Testing electro-mechanical development products according to product test specifications and generating appropriate and accurate test reports. Assembly of PLC controlled pneumatic test fixtures to aid product testing. Cataloguing development test samples. Maintenance of departmental equipment. Controlling departmental consumables Use of workshop equipment & tools to make minor modifications to development products. Assembly of product components according to design documentation ready for mechanical verification testing. Ability to drive to test houses to perform external testing and preparing test fixtures for that. Technical Skills (Essential): Understanding of mechanical/electrical/electronic drawings and principles. Knowledge and use of measuring instruments. Knowledge of pneumatics & pneumatic control – (basic). Previous experience of electro-mechanical test. Basic mechanical workshop skills (drilling & tapping, dremel, hand tools) Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Previous experience of PLC programming – (basic). Relevant Apprenticeship/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or similar. Technical Skills (Desirable) Relevant experience in test of class leading telecoms/datacomms equipment. PLC programming – Mitsubishi Alpha. Previous experience of design/specification of development test equipment. Previous experience of design/specification of development jigs & fixtures. Statistical analysis of test data. Wiring to electrical schematics Soldering Personal Attributes (Essential): Responsible attitude to work.
