We are seeking a Financial Accountant to provide financial accounting services for our client and its related entities. In this role, you will ensure accurate and transparent financial reporting, supporting key leadership with month-end close, fixed asset management, and the production of statutory accounts. You will also act as the main point of contact for external auditors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS for the organisation and its subsidiaries, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
2. Audit Management:
1. Oversee the day-to-day management of interim and year-end audits, ensuring audit files are uploaded in a timely manner.
2. Collaborate with auditors and finance teams to resolve issues and maintain adherence to audit schedules.
3. Escalate any audit-related issues promptly.
3. International Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of financial statements and year-end audits for international subsidiaries.
4. Climate & ESG Reporting:
1. Prepare climate and ESG reports, including CO2 emissions reporting across scopes 1, 2, and 3.
2. Work with stakeholders to gather necessary information for timely reporting.
5. Fixed Assets Management: Manage the accounting process for fixed assets, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and IFRS, including lease accounting.
6. Investment Accounting: Oversee monthly accounting for investment portfolio valuations.
7. Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Prepare or review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including intercompany balances.
8. Statistical Reporting: Compile and submit reports for the Office of National Statistics.
9. IFRS Compliance: Stay informed on changes to IFRS and communicate their impact to relevant team members.
10. Collaboration: Work closely with the Finance Business Partnering Team and other finance staff on reporting matters.
Candidate Profile
1. Education: A recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
2. Experience:
1. Solid experience in financial accounting and reporting.
2. Strong understanding of complex accounting issues and IFRS application.
3. Experience with accounting software like Microsoft Nav, Business Central, or similar is advantageous.
4. Familiarity with sustainability and climate reporting is a plus.
