Job Title: Test Equipment Wiring Technician (6-Month Contract)
Location: Stafford, Staffordshire
Rates:
PAYE: £19.63/hour
Umbrella: £26.25/hour
About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and hands-on Wiring Technician to support the build and maintenance of bespoke electrical and electronic test equipment for engine control systems. You'll be working in a newly established, purpose-built lab facility as part of a small, highly collaborative team supporting cutting-edge powertrain development.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble and wire electrical/electronic test boxes and harnesses to schematic drawings
Interpret pinouts and electrical schematics for complex I/O systems
Build and modify mechanical enclosures (drilling, tapping, etc.)
Support test equipment reliability and safety
Manage multiple priorities and projects with effective time planning
Collaborate with engineers and technical teams across multiple sites
Ideal Experience & Skills
2-3 years' experience in a similar electrical/electronic assembly role
Strong panel wiring and hands-on electrical build skills
Ability to solder, crimp, and assemble cables and connectors
Good understanding of test equipment and component selection
Competency in Microsoft Office, Teams, and Outlook
Experience using hand tools, multimeters, and oscilloscopes
Ability to create basic technical sketches (desirable)
Industry background in electronics, electrical, mechanical, controls or automotive is beneficial
Qualifications
A Level 3 technical apprenticeship, HNC, or relevant hands-on experience
Working Hours
37 hours/week
Monday-Thursday: 08:00-16:30
Friday: 08:00-13:00
