Key Responsibilities Conduct appropriate simulations (with a particular focus on tribology and structural analysis) to support the design, development, validation, and manufacturing activities of diesel fuel injection system components. Work closely with product team members (Design and Development Engineers), following projects and proposing design and testing recommendations based on simulation results. Liaise with other functional groups (Materials, Validation) and customer teams to obtain and share information to improve the accuracy and value of simulation activities. Report to the Simulation Manager, documenting methods, assumptions, results, and conclusions. Prepare and present summaries of work to a diverse audience in person and via conference calls. Support the development and implementation of new analysis techniques to improve simulation capabilities and product performance. Plan work activities effectively, support project planning, and complete work packages on time. Assist in arranging meetings and compiling agendas and minutes. What We're Looking For Skills Mandatory: Application of simulation methodology and fundamental physical principles to the design of hydraulic components. Thorough knowledge of commercial simulation software such as ANSYS, AMESIM, and GT Suite. Desirable: Good understanding of tribology and experience with elasto-hydrodynamic analysis (e.g., IST First). Ability to perform simulations involving fluid-structural interaction. Attributes Proven understanding of the principles of physics and mechanical engineering. Familiarity with fluid dynamics and metal fatigue principles. Ability to study a problem and identify the most appropriate analysis techniques (hand calculations, 1D/2D/3D, testing actual components). Understanding the nature of models and the consequences of assumptions used. Ability to work as part of a team while showing self-motivation and initiative. Some experience following analysis procedures. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate via reports, emails, and presentations. Ability to work, present, and communicate within all areas of the organization from shop floor to management. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Good written and spoken fluency in English. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines when required. Capability to prioritize and organize workload effectively. Problem-solving skills using structured methodologies. Willingness to travel for training and to work with customers and suppliers for problem resolution. Experience & Qualifications Mandatory: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a suitable engineering or business discipline. At least 5 years' experience using the above-mentioned simulation tools in an industrial setting. Desirable: At least 5 years' experience in the analysis of high-pressure fuel injection systems with a detailed understanding of associated hydraulic components and advanced simulation methods. Understanding of drivetrain tribology. Experience with Python for analysis and coding tasks. CAD/Solid modeling experience, preferably with SolidWorks or NX. Understanding of detail drawing and geometric tolerancing. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as grinding, heat treatment, and injection molding. Values and Principles Product Leadership: Innovation that brings value to customers. Humility: Seeking out diverse perspectives and working collaboratively. Inclusivity: Recognizing that differences make us stronger; being bold and intentional. Net-Zero Commitment: Focused on energy efficiency, waste reduction, and beneficial reuse. Integrity: Taking responsibility for decisions and doing what is right. Accountability: Owning actions and driving results. Benefits 27 days holiday plus bank holidays. Long service holiday (if applicable). 37-hour workweek. Pension scheme. Dental plan. Onsite parking. Staff discounts with selected retailers and wellbeing platforms. Discounted gym membership at Roko. Onsite gym (£10 per month). Subsidized canteen. Friendly working environment. Relocation package of up to £6,000 (subject to criteria).
