Are you a clinical/ counselling health psychologist keen to make a difference to the health, well-being and life-expectancy of patients in secure care across North London?
We are looking for a candidate with advanced specialist expertise and experience in working within health psychology and specifically in supporting behavioural change. The successful candidate will work directly with nursing and AHP colleagues in the physical health teams across the North London Forensic Collaborative to develop the strategic thinking about how to achieve behavioural change and improvement in patient's physical health, specifically in relation to weight management. The post-holder will also link in with the psychology leads across NLFC in developing the strategy and there is the expectation that the post-holder will produce a strategy paper.
This is a unique opportunity to take a leading role in identifying areas for improvement and driving forward positive change to practice within services related to weight management. There is also the opportunity to develop an honorary contract with Queen Mary's University department of public health.
Main duties of the job
To independently undertake a needs assessment for psychological input to physical health teams within secure services across NLFC, to support weight management and provide a strategic options report for the implementation of the service. This will include:
* To support North London Forensic Collaborative to offer clinical and professional leadership for psychological services within the physical health teams.
* To provide clinical advice, consultation and supervision to both psychology staff and staff from other professions, particularly staff from physical health teams.
* To plan and develop the psychological resources needed to support weight management initiatives within the physical health teams.
* To plan and potentially oversee the delivery of complex interventions to promote weight management within the highly specialised setting of forensic mental health, ensuring the longer-term maintenance of this programme.
* To propose policy and service changes which will impact on the development of weight management interventions for service users but also wider physical health interventions.

Qualifications
Essential
* Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology.
* Registration with HCPC as practitioner psychologist.
Desirable
* Additional training and qualification in health psychology (weight management), research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
* A relevant management training/ management experience.
* A training in clinical supervision.
Skills and knowledge
Essential
* Doctoral (or equivalent) level knowledge of psychological theory and practice including highly developed knowledge of health psychology.
* High level skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
* Highly developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information.
Desirable
* Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialized psychological therapies in specific groups.
Experience
Essential
* Extensive experience of working as a qualified clinical/counselling psychologist, within the area of clinical health psychology.
* Experience of teaching and training. Experience of the supervision of qualified psychology staff.
* Experience of service development including experience of leading on department wide clinical and administrative issues impacting on service delivery and development.
* Experience of working in a multiagency setting and providing consultation and training on complex cases.
Desirable
* Experience of multi-professional management of teams or services within the designated specialty.
Personal qualities
Essential
* Demonstrable leadership and strategic management qualities.
* Able to work autonomously as well as under supervision and with colleagues.
