People Services lead on all HR aspects for the University in addition to supporting organisational development, staff development, Equality and Diversity and Health and Safety. The department is made up of various teams and the People Services Employee Relations Administrator will play a key role within the central administrative team.
Reporting to the Head of Partnering & Advisory Services and working within a small team of professional administrators, the Employee Relations Administrator will play a key role in providing administrative support to the Employee Relations (ER) team, assisting with the management of ER cases, and helping implement ER policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with employment laws and university regulations.
Working closely with the People Services team, managers, and staff, the role will support the maintenance of positive working relationships, address workplace issues, and ensure fair treatment for all employees in alignment with university practices and legal requirements.
As the first point of contact for operational HR queries, the Employee Relations Administrator will manage the People Services mailbox in collaboration with other administrators, liaise with colleagues, and escalate matters as needed. The role also includes managing absence records, processing absence reports, and supporting the occupational health administration process.
Additionally, the position provides cross-team support by assisting with tasks related to resourcing, recruitment, and staff development within the broader operational HR team.
This role would be ideal for an all-round generalist with ER administration experience. You will require personal judgement to deal with and resolve day to day problems/work related issues within established processes and procedures. You will require be required to gain comprehensive knowledge of procedures and systems relevant to the role together with a sound appreciation of the work activities of the broader team.
This is a hybrid working role where the current requirement is a minimum of two days worked on campus however, there may be a requirement for additional days to be on site to attend meetings and/or training and is subject to change to meet the needs of the business.
