About the role: Hairdressing, Beauty and Barbering Teacher Do you want to transform your career and pass on your industry experience to the next generation of hairdressers, beauty therapists and barbers? Activate Learning are looking for a hairdresser / hair stylist / beauty therapist / barber to join our hairdressing, beauty and barbering teaching team. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic and creative individual with the ability to inspire and provide our hairdressing, beauty and barbering students have a memorable learning experience. With your excellent subject knowledge and practice skills you will work collaboratively with our existing team of talented and passionate teachers to ensure we plan and deliver purposeful practical and theory lessons up to level 3, and participate in the curriculum development to meet the needs of changing industry demands. Our Lifestyles department has an excellent record of delivering vocational hairdressing courses with employability embedded at their heart. This is achieved through excellent relationships with industry and the employment of experts with extensive professional experience within the teaching team. This is a part-time role working 27 hours per week (FTE 0.75), but we'd welcome applications for any of the subjects individually. The timetable is currently to teach Beauty on Mondays, Barbering on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Hairdressing on Thursdays, though these could be flexible for the right candidate. Please specify this in your cover letter. The role is on a fixed-term contract until July 2025 with the potential to extend beyond this. What do you need to be successful as a Hairdressing, Beauty and Barbering Teacher at Activate Learning? We are looking for people who can act as role models for our students and ensure that they leave us with not just their professional qualifications, but the attributes required to progress in the world of work. A genuine interest in working with and developing young people is a requirement. Whilst previous teaching experience and qualification would be an advantage, it is not a requirement. As long as you have the qualifications to teach hairdressing and demonstrate the attributes to be an inspirational teacher, we can provide you with the necessary training, development and support to equip you to teach in the FE sector. You will have a minimum Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing, Beauty and or Barbering recent experience and up-to-date knowledge of the industry to develop the skills of the future generation. • Level 3 or above qualification in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy or Barbering is essential • Experience as a hairdresser/barber/hair stylist is essential • It is desirable if you have a teaching and or assessors qualification and worked within education as a teacher, but this is not essential You will also have strong organisation skills coupled with the ability to prioritise workloads and will benefit from being part of a supportive team, working in a varied and interesting role with a variety of opportunities for career development.
