Job Description
To act as a laboratory analyst in the Minton, Treharne & Davies Instrumental laboratory in Cardiff. Being trained in our extensive range of petrochemical techniques/methods over a 2-year period. This will involve performing analysis on various matrices, with a significant proportion of oil and petrochemical samples following International Standard and in-house test procedures, and entering test results into the laboratory LIMS system, whilst ensuring the laboratory complies with ISO 17025 requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Learning our extensive range of petrochemical techniques/methods through a 2-year training program.
2. Undertake analysis on various sample matrices, interpret results, and enter results into the laboratory LIMS system, in line with instructions from laboratory managers and in compliance with ISO 17025.
3. Conduct investigative analysis as directed to provide adequate evidential support for clients’ purposes.
4. Participate in collaborative trials, surveys, performance assessment, and routine work while keeping abreast of and advising on relevant analytical, equipment, and systems developments.
5. Perform calibrations and maintain equipment as instructed by laboratory management.
6. Demonstrate compliance with all test methods, procedures, and quality systems.
7. Maintain organized systems of work for traceability and compliance with laboratory accreditation.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
1. Minimum HNC/OND appropriate to the work of the department.
2. Minimum of 6 months post-graduation experience in a commercial ISO 17025 laboratory routinely testing samples.
3. Technical knowledge of techniques such as gravimetry, titration, sample preparation, etc.
4. Experience in handling/testing dirty sample matrices.
