Job overview
This post is fixed term for 3 months - Acting Up role.
The Adult Forensic Service at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust has an existing opportunity for two Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists to help drive improvements to our patients’ experiences and contribute to the development of our new model of care.
While our new model of care is under development, it is anticipated that the post holders will be the Responsible Clinician for 12 – 16 male inpatients or 10 – 12 female inpatients, following their caseload from admission to discharge.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time to join us as an Acting Up Consultant (Forensic) Psychiatrist. This opportunity could be for a full-time post within either our women’s blended secure service (WBS) or our male medium secure service. Either role would allow a successful candidate to contribute to the development of our new model of care and to shape the future of secure services for women and men from Greater Manchester.
You will be supported by a full and expanding complement of multidisciplinary colleagues, including a medical secretary, junior doctor(s), clinical psychologist, social worker, occupational therapist, and nursing colleagues. To support our service users’ physical health, there is additionally a visiting GP, dentist, and well-established physical health team.
Alongside inpatient management, additional clinical activities include on-call work, access assessments to the service, and a range of additional activities dependent on negotiation with consultant colleagues and our new model of care.
