Job overview
Prospective candidates will join a large team of clinicians at a tertiary kidney centre in Manchester. The appointee is expected to work closely with Consultants and Healthcare Professionals.
The scope of clinical responsibilities will span case finding and initial management of chronic kidney disease through to care of patients with end stage kidney disease on dialysis, thus creating opportunities for growth and knowledge development in these spheres.
Main duties of the job
Specific roles will be clarified upon appointment, but the activities likely to feature in the new role include the following:
1. Participate in community clinics as we embark on a mission to take care of chronic kidney disease to primary care (1 day/week)
2. Participate in clinical MDTs for relevant patient group
3. Vascular access surveillance in hemodialysis patients
4. Facilitate tests for transplantation work-up
5. Recognizing patients approaching end-of-life and liaison with palliative care team in consultation with the primary nephrologist.
6. Family updates as and when necessary
7. Dialysis unit quality assurance MDT (monthly)
The role does NOT include connecting dialysis patients to machines or disconnections. The role does NOT include inpatient care.
